SEO 101: Continued

At the end of 2008, Seo 101: Link Exchange, was the beginning of our series on SEO. Ever changing, Search Engine Optimization can be a lot to keep up with, however, your site being the favorite of the search engines is well worth it!

Lets break down three portions of what you can do to help reach your SEO goals; Content, Links and Site Architecture.

Content: Think of everything viewable on your site. From the words that are read, to the videos or audio embedded – it is all relevant. If people are looking for particular topics and you have something relevant to offer, your content is essential! There are lots of ways (RSS Feeds, Sharing, etc) to get your content appearing in multiple places.

Links: How will you generate people? Where will they come from? Social Media is the quickest growing medium to generate traffic for your site and it is very powerful. Offline, word of mouth is genuine marketing for your project, online social media qualifies your site in a similar manor. Besides link building, advertising and networking, keep Social Media at the top of your list.

Site Architecture: The proper foundation for any home or skyscraper, the same is true for your website. Without keeping basics; hosting, URL structure, web standards, etc. – your website will not be able to thrive. Once again – keep up with Site Architecture alone can be a lot of work, but well worth it. Clean URL structure will enhance your search rankings.

Touching on these is all there is time for now, but as we continue to learn more, we’ll share what we know.
